Happy Birthday Addie!

Dear Sweet Addie Girl,
I cannot believe that we celebrated your second birthday today. Where did the time go? In the blink of an eye you've gone from a sweet little baby to a spunky toddler filled with infectious energy who makes us laugh every day. Not a day goes by that I am not thankful for the privilege of calling you my daughter. You are such a blessing to us!

Happy 2nd Birthday Addison Faith! We love you!

Partners in Crime

Addie is getting so tall these days, I sometimes forget that she can pull things down off the counter. Yesterday, it was the box of goldfish. I was tending to Luke, so I didn't stop her and just let her snack from the box. It was all downhill from there.

Apparently Addie wanted to share the entire box with Luna

Then joined her in eating off the floor

Obviously, this was hilarious!

Miracle?

Until about a week and a half ago, our sweet Luke was waking up at least twice during the night. His longest sleep stretches were only about 4 hours. This made for a very sleepy Mommy. It's obvious to me that Luke sleeps much better when he is swaddled. The problem is, he is a bit of an escape artist. He would fall asleep great with the swaddle, but if he woke up a little during the night, he would attempt to work his way out of the swaddle. Since he wasn't crying, I would usually let him be, but by the time he was done he would be wide awake. So...I made it my mission to perfect my swaddle so that our little Houdini could not break free.

I received these awesome huge muslin swaddling blankets as a gift. The combination of these and my researched swaddling techniques were sure to work! Apparently not. Luke is a very determined little man and would not give up. So I finally decided it was time to bring in the big guns. When Addie was an infant, I swaddled her with the Miracle Blanket. This is a swaddle blanket which is basically like a strait jacket and it is virtually impossible to escape from. Unfortunately, the Miracle Blanket is a little on the pricey side and I had no idea where the one we used with her was. So, after agonizing about purchasing a second Miracle Blanket, I went ahead and ordered one. The first night Luke slept a 7 hour stretch. This was followed by longer sleep stretches every night...our longest so far being 9 hours!

All wrapped up...no breaking free from this!

A few minutes later

My pediatrician had told me that 3 months is the magical time when babies are really capable of sleeping for long stretches. When we started using the Miracle Blanket Luke was right around 11 weeks. So, it could be a combination of the two...who knows. All I know is we're getting more sleep around here, and for that I am thankful!

Elmo's Green Thumb

As an early birthday present, Keith took Addie on a little date to see Sesame Street Live, "Elmo's Green Thumb". Being a huge Elmo fan, we were sure that Addie would love it! She was a little unsure of what to think at first, but as soon as Daddy sat her on his lap she loved every second. I'm so glad that Addie and Daddy were able to share this special experience.

Snow!!

We've had a crazy amount of snow this winter! Since Luke has been born we've had 3 major snow storms. This winter is officially the snowiest in history for the Philadelphia area. Honestly, I haven't really minded the snow. With a newborn we were going to be in the house anyway, and it made everything look beautiful.

Addie is a huge fan of the snow! It probably took 30 minutes each time to bundle her up for her snow adventures, but she was such a trooper out there. The cold didn't seem to bother her at all.

Addie and Daddy...snow buddies

Such a big helper

Mimi and Pappy found this sled just in time!

Love this goofy grin!

Getting out of the big igloo...look how much snow!

Finally! Time to rest.
